Bay Area News Group Nick Cantrell and Tom Peele are some of the few mainstream reporters willing to report on corrupt judges and family court issues.
SAN RAMON, CA- Contra Costa Presiding Judge Austin received complaints in August 2016 that Judge Mills was acting with impropriety and an appearance of retaliation in his clear effort to jail court reform activist Joe Sweeney for posting online about his family law divorce. Austin ignored the complaints and allowed Mills to retaliate and continue his criminal activity where Joe Sweeney was concerned.
Austin appeared to be unconcerned with public outcry and clearly felt insulated by his judicial immunity and knowledge that he was protected by a toothless and dysfunctional judge watchdog: The Commission on Judicial Performance , where Santa Clara County Judge Erica Yew holds the position of Chairperson.
Judge Austin and Judge Yew are typical of California's judicial management that has created a culture that includes: threatening the press and advocates who are critical of the Judicial Branch's fiscal management and individual judges.
Joe served his 13 days in the Richmond jail, but did not cease his advocacy work or his fight to maintain a relationship with his 4 year old daughter, which Contra Costa Judge Weil and Mills repeatedly attempted to terminate.
Joe's story is not an isolated case. Every day California judges are abusing their power and protecting a corrupt network of lawyers, court employees and court reporters in a manner that is nothing short of criminal activity. This activity is harming millions of families and children in the state and for the most part mainstream media and politicians have been silent on the issue.
Mark Peterson , the Contra Costa County DA who ignored Joe Sweeney's complaints against Mills has been disbarred, thrown out of office and convicted of a crime. The crime of protecting a judge and other criminal activity seems absent from the charges against Peterson, and where Peterson's former colleague Steven Moawad is now heading up the State Bar, where the Bar appears to continue to dismiss valid complaints lodged against crooked family law attorneys.
Tony Rackauckas, Orange county's DA, and former Superior Court Judge, appears to be working with former Santa Clara County Court CEO David Yamasaki where real estate fraud and corruption connected to family court private judging involving lawyers like David Weinberg, Tom Tuttle, Nancy Perkovich, Bob Blevans Nat Hales , Brad Baugh and Diana Richmond, run rampant and ignored, even assisted, by Superior Court Judges.
Jeff Rosen, the DA in Santa Clara, who regularly conceals evidence and allows prosecutors in his office to engage in improper sexual relationships with judges, lawyers and victims of crimes is drawing similar press attention after he repeatedly ignored reports of criminal activity that included cash bribes to attorneys and private judges.
Evidence exists that shows Rosen has routinely ignored thousands of complaints arising from family law cases, where everyday citizens are being jailed , kept from their children and bankrupted , merely because they posted on Facebook or online about a bad judge or crooked lawyer.
Rosen appears to be acting corrupt while advancing his political career, Rosen's office ignored hard facts in the Audrie Pott suicide case , where there is far more than an appearance that the Potts used lawyers like Robert Allard and Judges like Mary Arand to suppress critical information and conceal banking fraud where Sheila Pott had been heavily involved in loans made for Silicon Valley real estate. Sheila Pott is connected to banks that during the real estate collapse reportedly hid millions of real estate proceeds which has been paid to benefit Santa Clara County courts, appointed and elected judges, lawyers and custody experts, and which has further been concealed during employment and political vetting processes.
Rosen shamelessly used the teen age suicide of Audie Pott and the rape of Emily Doe, for his political advancement, while ignoring thousand of similar cases, and allowing his county offices to act as modern day brothels, mafia centers and porn shops for criminals and pedophiles.
Rosen has also ignored real violence imposed by individuals like former 49er Ray MC Donald, while Rosen's office actively pursues members of the press, and parents who post online about the corruption in Santa Clara County.
County Courts, the CJP and the State Bar have become so accustom to ignoring complaints, that the public has been left unprotected from serious criminal activity in a shadow justice system. A Shadow Justice System tolerates real crime and injustice, while attacking and harming the people who seek to expose it, including members of the press.
These days the corrupt judges who have shamelessly abused their power and failed to act in the interest of justice are working overtime to obstruct the state audit of their watchdog, the CJP. Victoria Henley , director of that agency, has buried judicial complaints, shredded and burned files and is committing hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees to block the state mandated audit of her agency.
Henley is working with Judges, including Santa Clara County Judge Erica Yew who appears to be working overtime to conceal not only misconduct of judges in her own county, but judicial crimes and misappropriation of public funds earmarked for the judiciary. Yew, is said to be an embarrassment to the Japanese community who is calling for her to resign, as the courts are spending thousands to decorate Yew with awards and appointments.
A judge who makes a mistake , over and over, where people are jailed, bankrupted or lose time with their own children can no longer continue to be dismissed. The Doctrine of Chances refuses to allow these "mistakes", as Judge Austin appears to hope will happen where corrupt judges like Judge Mills are concerned.
DA's who ignore thousands of valid complaints against lawyers, judges and public employees who are assisting in criminal conduct MUST be held to investigate and protect the people thy are elected to protect.
Thanks to Tom Peele and Nick Cantrell for being the rare reporters willing to cover this difficult topic.
